Ten years of Factory X. We celebrated with a party, plenty of laughter, some surprisingly good dance moves, and a chance to get to know the people we work with every day a little better.

Looking back, it’s hard to believe how much has changed in ten years. When we started, our team was much smaller, AI wasn’t part of our everyday work, and we certainly didn’t have to deal with all the opportunities and challenges that come with it today.

The technology has changed, the way we work has changed, and the company has grown. Yet somehow, when we look around, it also feels like some things have stayed exactly the same.

We still enjoy solving problems, working on interesting projects, and spending time with people who make the whole experience worthwhile.

And our tenth anniversary was a pretty good reminder of that.

For those who don’t know us, Factory X is a fully remote software development company. We have an office, but it’s empty more often than it’s full because our people live and work across Croatia.

We talk every day, spend hours on calls, exchange messages, and work together on projects that sometimes last for years. But seeing each other on a screen and spending time together in person are two very different experiences.

That’s why we make an effort to organize team gatherings throughout the year.

Recently, we spent a day at Terme Sveti Martin, where we held a workshop, shared ideas about the company, had lunch, and tried our luck at golf. It was a great day, but there’s something different about an evening when nobody’s watching the clock.

Conversations take unexpected turns, people relax, and you get to know colleagues beyond their projects, responsibilities, and the little squares they occupy on your screen.

We thought we knew our colleagues quite well. After all, some of us have been working together for almost ten years.

But apparently, there were a few hidden talents nobody had mentioned during our daily meetings.

Once the DJ played the right songs, we discovered just how many dancers we have at Factory X.

From YMCA to the classic two-step, there wasn’t much our team couldn’t handle. And judging by the enthusiasm on the dance floor, we should probably organize more opportunities for people to show off their moves. 😄

It’s funny how you can spend years working with someone, discussing complex software architecture and solving technical problems, only to discover that you’ve been sitting in meetings with a surprisingly talented dancer all along.

We’ll definitely keep that in mind when planning our next gathering.

One of the nicest things about the evening was seeing how naturally everyone came together.

Some colleagues have been with Factory X almost since the beginning. Others joined just a few months ago. Yet the people who arrived recently sometimes feel as though they’ve been here for years, while those we’ve known since the early days still manage to surprise us with something new.

We think that’s one of the best things about working with people.

No matter how long you’ve known someone, there’s always more to discover. And for a remote company, where so much of our interaction happens through screens, having the chance to share these moments in person means even more.

Ten years is a long time, especially in an industry where technology, expectations, and ways of working change so quickly.

We’ve grown from a small team into a company with people working across Croatia. We’ve worked on projects we couldn’t have imagined when we started, learned plenty of lessons, made mistakes, and adapted more times than we can count.

And we know the next ten years will bring changes we can’t even predict today.

But if there’s one thing this celebration reminded us of, it’s how much we appreciate the people we get to share this journey with.

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us, made us laugh, and helped make the evening so memorable. And thank you to everyone who has been part of Factory X over the past decade, including former colleagues, clients, and partners who helped us get here.

We’re looking forward to whatever comes next.

And judging by what we saw on the dance floor, we might need a bigger one for our next anniversary. 🥂
